Make Changes Now or Wait a Year

The Annual Enrollment Period, which runs October 15 through December 7, is in full swing. I’m sure you’ve seen the constant barrage of commercials!

During this time Medicare beneficiaries can make changes to their prescription drug plans for the following year. After this enrollment period ends on December 7 you won’t be able to make any changes to your plan until next October.

If your prescription drug plan is offered next year, and you make no enrollment decision, you will automatically be re-enrolled in the same plan starting on January 1.

We strongly recommend that you review your plan each year even if you are happy with your current plan. Premiums, co-payments, and drugs that are covered can change year-to-year. Additionally, a change in the medications you are taking can affect which plan is right for you.

The easiest way to review your plan is by using the Medicare website. Type in your zip code, drugs, dosages, and preferred pharmacy into the plan finder tool to find the total cost for every plan available in your area.

Here is step by step instructions to review your prescription drug plan.
